Use Cases for using AI
I’ve been racking my brain on how I can use AI. This is an amazing opportunity (it appears) to try to leverage this technology to build cool stuff and make gazillions. Seems the next best thing after the smartphone. (I’m skipping crypto here, which didn’t really pan out, at least for the wider world).
But even with all the exhortations from the pundits, from our employers, and wracking my brain, I am unable to find that killer application.
Maybe it was the pick and shovels crowd that made the $ (and still are). Not that I don’t have ideas. But they are not groundbreaking ideas. As a program/project manager, I’d love for AI to take some of my work, but projects are unique, and we project managers trade in information, interrogating people, getting answers, and turning around and reformulating it. There’s no clear path many times and we will stumble quite a bit, having to backtrack. The mundane things, such as taking minutes and scheduling meetings might be OK for AI, but I’m still hard-pressed to even do that.
One domain that does seem like it could be useful for is that of operations (as opposed to project work); where you have day-to-day, ongoing, repetitive work. My volunteer work is rife with opportunities that I can use AI for. I won’t get paid a gazillion bucks but it’ll help me, my fellow volunteers and future volunteers. I guess that’ll have to do for now.
